Evaluating my Blog

Today I’m going to talk to you about my experience writing this blog. First I have to say that in High School I always hated English, and I think it is because of the type of evaluations and how the classes were made. In 4^th grade my English class was the last one of the week, and it was so boring to sit there and listen to the teacher for one hour and a half, she was also upset in that hour of the week and she was not interested in doing the class.

While writing this blog and doing this course I felt very comfortable, I love computers and I think it is a great idea to work with them because it  is more comfortable to write, and you can use many tools on the internet, also the teacher is very ready to support  every time you ask.

I think my writing skills increased with this course, because at the beginning I didn’t have too much assurance about what I’m writing and now I feel more comfortable.

Maybe in the future it would be a good idea to connect the blogging class with the speaking class, because we would be more familiarized with the words of a certain theme so the speaking activity would be more dynamic.

I would like to write more about actual topics in Chile and the region.

A subject I've enjoyed studying this semester

Hi, today I'm going to talk to you about my favorite subject this semester, and it is Anatomy.

Human Anatomy is the study of all the structures in the human body and how them relate with the function. The subject got a theoretical part and a practical part. In the theoretical part you learn the form of all the structures, which includes muscles, bones, organs, nerves, arteries, veins and more. You also learn regional anatomy which is a part of the body that got limits and  structures that are relationated with a function in that region; an example is upper limb, you can learn the name of all muscles, but you must know why they are there and how they relate with other structures in that region.

 In the practical part you learn how the theoretical part can be seen in a cadaver.

I enjoy this subject because I was so interested in learn how the human body is composed and because is very beautiful see structures in the Netter’s atlas of Human Anatomy.

It is very useful because the study of anatomy saved and continue saving a lot of human lives because is the base of all the medical knowledge.

My favourite dentist

Hello, today I'm gonna talk to you about Dr. German Valenzuela Basterrica, my favourite dentist and also the founder of this dental school. 

Dr. German Valenzuela Basterrica was a chilean Doctor and Dentist, he was the director of the Dentist School in the late XIX century. After studying medicine, Dr. German Valenzuela was sent by the Chilean government to study dentistry in Paris. In reward to his contribution for solving a famous criminal case and following  Dr. Germán Valenzuela wishes, the Chilean president Pedro Montt ordered to build a modern dentist school: The Dental School Dr. Germán Valenzuela . Therefore, odontology in Chile became a legal career, and the school became the best odontology school in Chile.

                                    

The Becker case

In 1909, the Germany embassy got burnt and what was believed to be the body of the German ambassador Guillermo Becker was discovered under the rubble. The German government accussed Exequiel Tapia, the doorman of the murder. With that, the relationship of Chile and Germany was really tense. After many investigations, and with the contribution of Dr. German Valenzuela, who identified that the dentition of the body that was found belonged to the doorman, the case was solved and Guillermo  Becker was executed and the Chilean world reputation was saved.

I like him because he proved that the odontology deserved more attention and not only being a dependence of medicine. 

My favorite dentist

A Photograph I Like

This photo was taken by me the last summer, it shows my friend Tomás very happy swinging in the middle of the night in a unknown neighborhood in Maipú.

I like this photo because it represent the maximum splendor of happiness, and how the photos can catch moments forever, it also show movement and for me is very strange for the way that his hair look like a jellyfish swimming. You can't see his face with detail, but you instantly know that was laughing.

That night we were talking on a bench, and he just stand up and swing, he couldn't stop laughing and swinging, the neighbors start to watch what's was going on, also they started to whistle and shout. Next day I showed that photo to him and he just couldn't remember anything of how he got there, just that he was trying to ask for help, but he could only swing and laugh.

My Favourite Music Album: The Dark Side Of The Moon

Maybe you might think that this album is a very common choice when you ask people, I think it is because the cover is one of the most recognizable of all time, but certainly, in general not many people take the time to listen to a complete album, which in itself represents a work of art on its own, in the case of Pink Floyd and specifically this album, for me, the musical, lyrical and conceptual level reaches the point of masterpiece.

I do not hear it so often, because I think it deserves full attention and not just listening to it and doing other activities, but maybe every two months I give myself the time to listening to it carefully.

I usually listen to this album alone, but also with friends when the situation calls for it

The music style of this album is  Progressive Rock, every musician stands out in this album, specially David Gilmour with amazing guitars. And for me the best guitar solo in history is ''Time''

The lyrical part of this album is, speaking in a very general way, a critique on the incidence of capitalism in the natural course of life.

I love this album because: 

-My favourite song is on it

-It was the gate to all the Pink Floyd albums

-I discover something new every time I listen to it

My Favourite Piece of Technology

For me, technology doesn't have to be jugded only for the uses and the comfort, It has to be recognized for the engineering and the construction of that object, having said that, I think my favourite piece of technology is the computer. I spend many hours on it and I also think that it is very useful to create new technology.

 It is a little difficult to explain, but in a few lines, a computer is a machine composed of two different parts; a physical one called ''Hardware'', that executes any command or instruction,  and ''Software'', the non physical part that includes the instructions and data of what the hardware has to do

Basically, you have a screen where you can see the operative system an the programs installed on it, a mouse, that allows you to move and select things, and also a keyboard use for writing.

The first time that I used a computer was when I was 5-6 years old. My uncle taught me how to use it and then showed me the MAME32, a game emulator of classic arcade games. Since then I became an addict to computer games and computers.

I never had my own computer, until 2015 when my grandmother gave me my first laptop. I spent a lot of time doing different things, like watching videos, playing games, reading books and more. Now I don't have enough time to spend on my computer, but I can spend 6-8 hours if I have time.

I like it because you can do a lot of things on it and the most important thing, is the best way to have access to the internet.

Without my computer my life would be more difficult because I would have less access to information, and I would have to buy a lot of things that with my computer are free and easy to get.
